Genius and memory

Comune di Milano celebrates Umberto Boccioni on the occasion of the first centenary from his death with an interesting exhibition full of newness, that counts over 280 works between sketches, paintings, sculptures, etchings, vintage pictures, books, magazines, documents.

Umberto Boccioni (1882 – 1916) Genio e memoria Is a study and research project attended to Gabinetto dei Disegni della Soprintendenza del Castello Sforzesco, enriched with Boccioni’s writings and with a great Futurist press review from 1911 to 1916, belonged to the artist’s sister, gathered by Marinetti and Boccioni and presented to spectators in this occasion for the first time.

Promoted by Comune di Milano and produced and organized by Castello Sforzesco, Museo del Novecento and Palazzo Reale with Electa publishing house.

The Initiative is organized by Francesca Rossi (Castello Sforzesco) with Agostino Contò (Biblioteca Civica di Verona), avails itself of a scientific committee composed of important experts in the field and is supported by loans of famous Museum and private collections from all the world, such as Pinacoteca di Brera, Gallerie d’Italia in Milan, the Milan Chamber of Commerce, the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Rome, the Gianni Mottoli collection, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, the Barilla collection of Modern Art, the Museo Cantonale of Art in Lugano, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Getty Foundation in Los Angeles, the Musée Picasso and the Museé Rodin in Paris, the Osaka City Museum of Modern Art, the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Wien.

The Exhibition will be on stage until the 10th of July at Palazzo Reale of Milan and at a later time at Mart in Rovereto, from the 4th of November until the 19th of February 2017.
